Essays in Taxation and International Relations

This book contains three distinct papers: „Entrepreneurship, Bribes, and Taxation of Personal Income,” „Financial Sector Quality and Tax Revenue: Panel Evidence,” and „Rethinking Economic Sanction Success: Sanctions as Deterrents.” These are highly revised and updated papers that originally formed my Ph.D. thesis at Harvard University in 2008. Since then, these three studies have been presented at multiple academic institutions and conferences, various intermediate drafts were posted on websites, and were ultimately greatly improved. (…)
